Sometimes you just have to embrace winter. And what better way than snow sports? Bear Creek Mountain Resort offers skiing, snowboarding and snow-tubing on their slopes, which include everything from beginner to advanced trails, as well as a moguls path and three terrain parks. Even if you can’t make it for the snow, they’ve got all sorts of fun on the mountain during the summer, too, like hiking, biking and boating. Their resort and beautiful hotel are a great destination year-round.

After a fun day on the slopes, the best way to wind down is a good meal and a refreshing brew, which is why it’s fortunate that they have The Grille on site. A whole array of yummy starts, mouth-watering entrees, delicious burgers, and a special late night menu great for enjoying with your favorite beer. In addition to great food, they have craft beers like Victory, Troegs, Anchor and Ithaca available on draft and in bottles.

Magic Hat’s Winterland Variety Pak is on shelves now, bringing the tidings of the coming season in their wake. They have the winter favorites and usual brews like #9, Encore and Heart of Darkness, but this year they’ve added something new to the case. G-Thing is the new addition this year, exclusive to the variety pack. This ginger-spiced beer has zing with warm roasty notes and cinnamon spiciness. It stands at 5.7% ABV, and its seasoned flavor is perfect for the season of gingerbread men and pumpkin-spiced foods.

Tröegs is releasing Nugget Nectar in draft form, which will continue to be available through March. This extra, extra hoppy beer has been a mid-winter seasonal favorite for a number of years, released every February. Tröegs is increasing production of the beer this year due to positive feedback.
This golden beer has a sweet piney, citrusy aroma with hints of other fruit underneath. The taste is quite hoppy and bitter, but with a slightly sweet malty finish and tones of citrus. With a medium body and moderate carbonation, this beer is extremely drinkable, especially for those of us ready for spring. 7.5% ABV

The most recent installment in Long Trail Brewing Company’s Brewmaster Series is an Imperial Red Ale dubbed “Centennial Red.”  This ale was intended to be a commemorative beer, celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the famous Long Trail, a hiking trail that runs the entire length of Vermont, and the obvious namesake of the brewery.  Long Trail Brewing Co. is donating a portion of the proceeds from the sales of Centennial Red to the Green Mountain Club, the care takers of the Long Trail since 1910.
