Friday, September 16, 2016 | Contest, Victory

respectthemonkeybanner

Living in this area, you’d be hard pressed to find a beer-lover who doesn’t have a story involving Golden Monkey. The tripel has become synonymous with wild tales and freed inhibitions, so it stands to reason that a collection of stories surrounding the beer would be quite entertaining.

If you need a new audience for your favorite Golden Monkey escapade, the folks at Victory are eager to hear it. Submit your story with a photo or video to RepsectTheMonkey.com for your chance to win exclusive Golden Monkey prizes. Submissions will be accepted until midnight, October 10th, after which judges will pick five video and five photo finalists. Then starting October 15th, fan voting will determine the final winners, which will be announced on the 29th. Finalists will receive a Victory t-shirt and a small swag item, while two grand prize winners will get a Golden Monkey prize package with signed memorabilia.

So tell you story and don’t worry if the monkey speaks.

Susquehanna’s Goldencold Takes Bronze at GABF

Friday, November 13, 2015 | Contest, Susquhanna

goldencoldlagerBRONZE

Out of the 55 beers entered in the Munich Helles category at the Great American Beer Festival, Susquehanna Brewings Goldencold Lager took third, beating out most the competition. Over 6,000 breweries vie for 276 medals, and with so many other breweries competing at this prestigious festival, the chances of taking home a medal are slim. On top of that, the Munich Helles category is one of the larger sections to compete in.

So what is this award-winning beer? It’s a German-inspired pale lager, using Endosperm mashing to create a delicate flavor and texture and Bavarian Hallertau Tradition and Hallertau Perle hops for a distinct character.

Founded in 1982, this festival has been recognizing great craft brewing in this country for over twenty years, growing alongside the industry. If you couldn’t make it out to Denver this weekend, it’s okay. A little closer to home is the Elmwood Park Zoo Oktoberfest Beer Tasting, where you can sample many award-winning brews among the park’s wild animals.
