Rogue Juniper Pale Ale

Thursday, November 15, 2012 | Breweries, Rogue

Nothing goes with a Thanksgiving turkey like a bottle or Rogue’s Juniper Pale Ale. This spicy and smooth 5.3% pale ale is finished with whole Juniper berries making it a superb pairing for a turkey dinner.

The beer pours a delicate saffron color with spices on the nose without being overbearing with Juniper. The taste is much like any other sessionable pale ale, of course with the unique hint of Juniper, but finishes quite dry with a nice note of bitterness.

Rogue Juniper can be found in large format bottles making it an exceptional bottle to share or bring as a gift for a host or hostess. It can also be found in six packs at most bottle shops.

2 Featured Beers from the Draft Top 25 of 2012

Thursday, November 8, 2012 | Breweries, Rogue, Urban Chestnut

Two select Greatest Beers of the World have been honored this year in Draft Magazine’s annual report of their consideration for best beer releases. These two beers include Rogue’s Bacon Maple Ale and Urban Chestnut’s Zwickel which are both readily available throughout the region.

The Rogue Bacon Maple Ale is a limited-release collaboration between Rogue Ales and Voodoo Donut a popular donut spot found in the Portland, Oregon area. It starts as a smoked beer and then kicks it up with some porky goodness, real Applewood-smoked bacon is added. Then to tone it down a bit, maple syrup is added. The end result is an amber-brown ale that is sweet on the nose with an initial sweetness on the palate finished with heavy smoke and even a kiss of pork. It’s unusual but fantastic.

The Urban Chestnut Zwickel is definitively a classic style German lager know as a Zwickel Bier. This beer style may not be known by most but its origins date back older than the Pilsner and is a very similar style to the more common Kellerbier. The main historical difference is that the Zwickel Bier was known to be a less full-bodied or weaker Kellerbier. The Urban Chestnut Zwickel however is nothing less than exceptional. It’s easy going but its mild, crisp, flavorful, and refreshing making it a great beer for any time of the day!

Be sure to be on the lookout for both of these beers on draught. Rogue’s Bacon Maple Ale is most commonly found in 22oz bottles at most bottle-shops.
