Seamus O’Hara to Visit

Friday, March 7, 2014 | Bars, Beer News, Carlow

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up here in ten days, and what better way to celebrate than to try one of O’Hara’s Irish brews? Better yet, why not take the opportunity to see Carlow Brewing Co. founder and owner, Seamus O’Hara as he makes his tour around the U.S? You’ll have several opportunities to see him make an appearance to share his love for Irish craft brewing and heritage. It also makes for a good excuse to try O’Hara’s Irish Stout, a terrific beverage choice for St. Patrick’s Day.

On Sunday the 9th around dinnertime, he’ll be at Churchville Inn in Bucks County, then move on to E’s Irish Pub in Hatboro and continue to Union Jack’s in Glenside.   And on Monday the 10th around lunchtime, he’ll be at Jenkintown’s Drake Tavern (where you can try the special O’Hara’s burger), then head to Pinocchio’s in Media for an early afternoon visit. Click through to see location specifics.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet Seamus while he’s on his U.S. tour.

The Lucky Well

Friday, November 8, 2013 | Bars, Restaurants

BBQ has a tendency to bring a lot of loud opinions with it. Everyone’s got their favorite recipes and methods that they swear are the best, the only way. But when it’s a finalist from Food Network Star, you know you’ve really got something special. Chad Rosenthal opened The Lucky Well in Ambler a few months ago, and its popularity has just grown ever since. It combines delicious comfort foods like St. Louis pork ribs, poutine, and mac&cheese with top-rate organic ingredients, a hip atmosphere and a high quality, diverse bar menu.

Every dish is made with the utmost care and consideration, with delicious twists on old favorites. Take the deviled eggs; they’ve got burnt ends, fresh horseradish and smoked paprika to give them an edge over the competition. The food is what really sells it, but the relaxed but still refined ambiance–think communal seating in a high class joint–polishes this incredible restaurant. Rosenthal himself has a habit of coming out to chat with patrons and take pictures, and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Best to make a reservation, as seating is limited.

Limited Release from Long Trail

Thursday, October 24, 2013 | Bars, Events, Fall, Long Trail, New

Long Trail’s adding another IPA to their lineup, the first year-round beverage to come out of its Farmhouse Pilot Brewery. It’s not out on the shelves quite yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try it!

Select locations will be tapping kegs of this new brew in the next week, perfect for the spookiest days of the year, Halloween and the Day of the Dead, giving you the opportunity to be one of the first to try it in this area.

Limbo IPA is an American-style IPA full of flavor, showcasing west-coast Mosaic and Australian Galaxy hops for 80 IBUs.

Long Trail fans will notice that the packaging for this IPA is much bolder than many of the other styles this brewery is known for. Customer feedback inspired the name (“You’d better not leave me sitting here in Limbo until you decide to brew some of your new IPAs year-round.”), which takes on a life of its own with a beautifully designed label and a unique tap handle in the shape of a bone. Full release will include six packs, five gallon logs and 50L kegs.
